Making the World a Better Place For All of Us
Nancy Becher, Founder and President
I am the founder of Invisible Warriors, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting military women. I founded Invisible Warriors because I couldn’t look the other way.
I am not a veteran. I married one — Ed Becher, a Marine who gave 23 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. And then I kept walking toward the women in that world, the ones the country had mostly stopped paying attention to. I have been listening to them, sitting with them, and fighting for them since 2005.

You’ll recognize me. I’m the one in the bright wig, in the wheelchair, with the service dog at my side. I didn’t come to this work with credentials. I came with my eyes open and my mouth ready.
Invisible Warriors is my answer to what I saw: women who signed their names on the dotted line, said they’d give their lives for this country, and came home to silence. To dismissal. To a VA system that wasn’t built for them and a public that barely registered them. I started IW to build the sisterhood that should have already existed — a place where women veterans are seen, known, and never alone.
I don’t believe in fixing people. I believe in showing up for them. There is a difference, and it matters.

Melissa began her Air Force career in logistics and materiel management, serving at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany and Nellis Air Force Base before cross-training into information technology and knowledge operations.
At Whiteman Air Force Base, she served with the 393rd Bomb Squadron, providing information technology and executive support for B-2 Bomber Spirit operations and mission-critical communications. She later transitioned to the Air National Guard, serving with the 162nd Wing and supporting information technology and network operations for an international F-16 pilot training mission.
Following her military service, Melissa built a career spanning entrepreneurship, business development, marketing, communications, and organizational leadership. For more than two decades, she has led teams, built businesses, developed partnerships, and brought people together around shared goals.
As a woman veteran, Melissa believes deeply in the power of connection and advocacy. Her own experiences have shaped her commitment to ensuring women who served are recognized as veterans, their stories and experiences are valued, and they have access to a community where they feel seen, supported, and understood.
Through her role with Invisible Warriors, Melissa is honored to continue serving, this time by helping strengthen the community of women who once raised their hands to serve alongside her.
